Originally founded as Eris Exchange in 2010, the company aimed to bring the interest rate swap market to a regulated, transparent, and centrally-cleared futures exchange. Its flagship products, Eris Swap Futures, provided market participants with a more capital-efficient way to trade and hedge interest rate risk. The company later evolved into ErisX, expanding its model to include a regulated cryptocurrency spot and futures market, uniquely offering both under a single platform. In May 2022, Cboe Global Markets completed its acquisition of ErisX to form the foundation of its new Cboe Digital division, aiming to bring trusted exchange infrastructure to the digital asset space.
