Billserv, Inc. was founded in 1997 and became a prominent player in the then-emerging field of Electronic Bill Presentment and Payment (EBPP). Headquartered in San Antonio, Texas, the company provided a platform and services that enabled businesses to deliver bills and statements to customers electronically and to receive payments online. The company went public on the NASDAQ but, like many dot-com era companies, faced significant financial challenges. In 2001, Billserv, Inc. filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection, and its assets were subsequently acquired by Spectrum Commerce.
