The Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP) is the central bank of the Philippines, established on July 3, 1993, pursuant to the provisions of the 1987 Philippine Constitution and the New Central Bank Act of 1993. It succeeded the old Central Bank of the Philippines, which was established in 1949. The BSP's primary mandate is to maintain price stability conducive to a balanced and sustainable growth of the economy. It also aims to promote and maintain monetary stability, the convertibility of the peso, and to supervise the country's banking and financial system.
