The Arab Monetary Fund (AMF) is a regional Arab organization founded in 1976, beginning operations in 1977. Its primary mission is to lay the monetary foundations for Arab economic integration and to accelerate economic development across its member states. The AMF provides financial and technical assistance to its members, offers loans to correct balance-of-payments deficits, works to stabilize exchange rates among Arab currencies, promotes trade, and develops Arab financial markets. It functions similarly to a regional International Monetary Fund (IMF) for the Arab world.
