Zag Bank was a digital bank and a trademark of Desjardins Bank. Originally launched as Bank West in 1998, it was acquired by Desjardins Group in 2011 and rebranded to Zag Bank in 2014. The bank aimed to provide a simple, direct-to-consumer online banking experience, focusing primarily on high-interest savings accounts and GICs. In late 2018, Desjardins Group announced it would be winding down Zag Bank's operations to focus on its own digital transformation efforts. Zag Bank officially closed to the public and transferred remaining accounts on June 1, 2019.
