XL Innovate was launched in 2015 as a dedicated venture capital fund by XL Group (now AXA XL), a global insurance and reinsurance company. The firm's mission was to identify and invest in promising early-stage companies focused on developing innovative technologies for the insurance industry (insurtech). Following the acquisition of XL Group by AXA in 2018, XL Innovate was integrated into the broader AXA corporate structure, and its functions have been absorbed by AXA Venture Partners (AVP), AXA's global venture capital firm. The original XL Innovate brand is no longer in active use.
