The UK Crowdfunding Association (UKCFA) was founded in 2012 as a trade body to promote and protect the UK's crowdfunding industry. Its mission was to ensure high standards of conduct, provide a voice for the sector in policy discussions with government and regulators like the FCA, and champion crowdfunding as a valuable and viable source of finance for businesses and projects. In March 2023, the UKCFA merged with The Investment Association (IA) to integrate the crowdfunding sector into the wider investment management industry, with its activities and members being incorporated into the IA's FinTech and innovation hub, IA Engine.
