The company aimed to provide freelancers, consultants, and gig workers with access to affordable and portable benefits, including short-term disability, accident, and critical illness insurance. Trupo operated on a state-by-state basis due to insurance regulations. Despite raising seed funding and forming partnerships, the company announced it was ceasing operations in late 2020, citing the challenges of building a sustainable business in the complex US insurance market.
