SamSamkring is a modern "broodfonds" (bread fund), a type of informal insurance collective popular among entrepreneurs in the Netherlands. It operates as a network where members support each other financially during periods of sickness. Instead of paying premiums to a traditional insurer, members deposit money into their own dedicated account and make donations to sick members within their group from this account. The model is based on mutual trust and community, offering an alternative to formal disability insurance. SamSamkring is an initiative of BroodfondsMakers, an organization specializing in setting up and facilitating these collectives.
