Odysee is a content-sharing platform for videos, music, and other digital media, operated by LBRY, Inc. Launched in 2020, its mission is to provide a censorship-resistant and creator-centric alternative to mainstream platforms. It is built on the open-source LBRY network, a blockchain-based protocol that uses its own cryptocurrency, LBRY Credits (LBC), for content publishing, tipping, and creator monetization. Following a lengthy legal battle with the U.S. SEC, the parent company LBRY, Inc. announced in October 2023 that it was winding down its operations due to legal debts.
