The National Bank of Serbia (NBS) is the independent and autonomous central bank of the Republic of Serbia. Its primary objective is to achieve and maintain price stability. In addition to this, it contributes to maintaining and strengthening the stability of the financial system. Key functions of the NBS include implementing monetary policy, managing foreign exchange reserves, issuing banknotes and coins, regulating and supervising banks and other financial institutions, and managing the payment system. Established originally in 1884, it plays a crucial role in the economic framework of Serbia.
