The Michigan State University Financial Markets Institute (FMI) is a specialized program within the Broad College of Business, founded in 2004. Its mission is to bridge the gap between academic theory and industry practice for students pursuing high-powered careers in finance. The FMI provides intensive, extracurricular training in financial analysis and valuation, offers exclusive networking opportunities with top firms on Wall Street and beyond, and gives students hands-on experience through managing a real-money investment portfolio, the Spartan Carr Asset Management Fund. This selective program is designed to equip students with the skills, knowledge, and connections necessary to succeed in competitive fields like investment banking, asset management, and private equity.
