Founded in 1997, Local Government Super (LGS) was an industry superannuation fund dedicated to serving current and former local government employees in New South Wales, Australia. As a profit-for-member fund, its mission was to maximise the retirement outcomes for its members. The fund gained recognition for its long-standing commitment to responsible and sustainable investing. In May 2021, seeking to broaden its appeal and reflect its diverse membership beyond the local government sector, Local Government Super rebranded to become Active Super. The underlying fund, trustee, and core mission of responsible investment remain the same under the new brand identity.
