Founded in 1953 by Charles Litton Sr., Litton Industries grew into a major conglomerate and a key player in the U.S. defense industry. The company was renowned for its advanced technology, particularly in navigation systems, communications, electronic warfare, and command-and-control systems. It also owned Ingalls Shipbuilding, a major manufacturer of ships for the U.S. Navy. In 2001, Litton Industries was acquired by Northrop Grumman and its various divisions were integrated into the new parent company, ceasing to exist as an independent entity.
