Originally chartered in 1954 as the Washoe County School District Employees Federal Credit Union, the institution rebranded to Great Basin Federal Credit Union in 1996 to reflect its expanded community charter. As a not-for-profit financial cooperative, it is owned and operated by its members. Its mission is to provide quality, member-focused financial services, including savings, checking, loans, and investment products, with profits returned to members in the form of lower loan rates, higher savings rates, and fewer fees.
