Grayscale Investments
Information by Research TrustFinance
Founded in 2013 by Barry Silbert, Grayscale Investments has grown to become the world's largest digital currency asset manager. As a subsidiary of the Digital Currency Group (DCG), Grayscale's mission is to make digital currency investing accessible, transparent, and secure for a broad range of investors. The company is best known for its family of investment trusts, which provide exposure to various cryptocurrencies, and most notably, its Grayscale Bitcoin Trust (GBTC), which was the first publicly-quoted Bitcoin investment vehicle. In a landmark event for the industry, Grayscale successfully converted GBTC into a spot Bitcoin ETF in January 2024 after winning a lawsuit against the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC).
