Gopax
Information by Research Trustfinance
Founded in 2017 by Streami, Inc., Gopax is one of South Korea's major virtual asset exchanges. The company aims to provide a secure and reliable platform for trading digital assets, emphasizing regulatory compliance and security, having obtained an ISO/IEC 27001 certification and a Virtual Asset Service Provider (VASP) license from Korean financial authorities. In late 2022, Gopax faced a significant crisis after suspending withdrawals from its crypto-lending service "GoFi" due to the collapse of its partner, Genesis Global Capital. To resolve the situation and repay users, global cryptocurrency exchange Binance acquired a majority stake in the company in early 2023, marking Binance's re-entry into the South Korean market.
