GMAC Auto Insurance
Information by Research Trustfinance
Originally part of the General Motors Acceptance Corporation (GMAC), GMAC Insurance was established to provide auto insurance to GM customers. It grew to become one of the largest auto insurers in the United States, offering a wide range of personal and commercial insurance products. After being sold by GM, the company operated independently and officially rebranded to National General Insurance in 2013 to reflect its broader scope beyond its automotive origins. In 2021, National General Holdings Corp. was acquired by The Allstate Corporation, and it now operates as a key subsidiary, continuing to offer auto, home, and RV insurance across the country.
