GiroCredit Bank AG der Sparkassen, formerly known as Girozentrale und Bank der österreichischen Sparkassen (GZ), was a leading Austrian financial institution headquartered in Vienna. It functioned as the central institution for the Austrian savings banks sector, providing a wide range of services including commercial banking, treasury operations, and securities trading. The bank was particularly prominent in investment banking and was a key player in Central and Eastern European markets. In 1997, GiroCredit merged with Erste Bank, a landmark event in Austrian banking history that led to the creation of the modern Erste Group, one of the largest financial services providers in Central and Eastern Europe.
