GIEK - The Norwegian Export Credit Guarantee Agency
Information by Research TrustFinance
Originally established as GIEK in 1929, the agency served as Norway's primary provider of guarantees for exports to developing and politically unstable countries. On July 1, 2021, GIEK merged with Export Credit Norway to create a single, more comprehensive state financial enterprise named Eksfin (Export Finance Norway). Eksfin's mission is to be a key financial partner for Norwegian businesses, aiming to increase Norwegian exports, support the green transition, and promote Norwegian value creation by providing state-backed loans, guarantees, and advisory services to exporters and their customers worldwide. It operates as a state-owned enterprise under the Norwegian Ministry of Trade, Industry and Fisheries.
