First Nations Finance
Information by Research TrustFinance
Established under the federal First Nations Fiscal Management Act of 2005, the First Nations Finance Authority (FNFA) is a non-profit institution dedicated to providing First Nation governments with access to the mainstream capital markets. Its primary mission is to offer low-cost, long-term financing for community infrastructure, social, and economic development projects. The FNFA achieves this by aggregating the borrowing needs of its member First Nations and issuing debentures (bonds) on their behalf, thereby securing favorable interest rates previously unavailable to individual communities.
