Launched in 2017 by Bitfinex, Ethfinex was designed to be a decentralized information and exchange platform for the Ethereum community. It operated with a hybrid model, featuring both centralized and on-chain order books, and was governed by its community through the Nectar (NEC) token. In September 2019, following a management buyout, the Ethfinex platform separated from its parent company iFinex (Bitfinex) and rebranded as DeversiFi to operate as a fully independent, decentralized exchange.
