EMIS (Empresa Interbancária de Serviços S.A.) is the operator of the Angolan interbank network, established in 2002 by the local banking community under the coordination of the National Bank of Angola (BNA). The company's primary mission is to manage and develop a secure, efficient, and reliable national payment system. It is responsible for the entire MULTICAIXA brand and network, which includes ATMs, Point of Sale (POS) terminals, mobile payment solutions like MULTICAIXA Express, and interbank fund transfers, forming the backbone of electronic payments in Angola.
