Established in 2006 by the Ministry of Investment, the Central Bank of Egypt (CBE), and a consortium of public and private sector banks, the Egyptian Mortgage Refinance Company (EMRC) plays a pivotal role in developing Egypt's secondary mortgage market. Its core mission is to inject liquidity into the primary mortgage finance market by purchasing and refinancing mortgage portfolios from originators. This enables lenders to offer more affordable, long-term housing finance to the public, thereby supporting the growth of the real estate sector and promoting homeownership in Egypt.
