Founded in 1969 as the Connecticut Housing Investment Fund (CHIF), the organization's initial mission was to finance homeownership for minority families who were denied access to conventional credit. Over the decades, it expanded its services to address a wider range of housing and community development needs. In 2016, following mergers with the Greater New Haven Community Loan Fund and the Community Capital Fund, the organization rebranded to Capital for Change, Inc. (C4C). Today, as a certified CDFI, it provides flexible and affordable financing to expand housing opportunities, job creation, and economic prosperity in underserved communities across Connecticut.
