Information by Research Trustfinance
Originally founded in 1973 as a joint venture between State Street Corporation and DST Systems, Inc., Boston Financial Data Services (BFDS) grew to become a major provider of transfer agency and shareholder services. The company offered a comprehensive suite of solutions for the investment management industry, including transaction processing, record-keeping, compliance and regulatory support, and intermediary services. In 2017, DST Systems acquired State Street's 50% stake, taking full ownership. Subsequently, in 2018, SS&C Technologies Holdings, Inc. acquired DST Systems, integrating BFDS's operations and services into its broader portfolio of financial technology and services. Today, the functions once performed by BFDS are part of SS&C's Global Transfer Agency and investor servicing solutions.
