Established in 1975, BANQUE POUR LE COMMERCE EXTERIEUR LAO PUBLIC originally served as a specialized agency of the Central Bank to manage international trade and financial transactions for the state. It was transformed into a fully-fledged commercial bank in 1989 and later became a public company listed on the Lao Securities Exchange in 2011.
