Bankalar Caddesi, located in the Galata (modern-day Karaköy) district of Istanbul, was the heart of the Ottoman Empire's financial world from the 19th century until the establishment of the Turkish Republic. The street housed the headquarters of the Ottoman Bank, numerous other international and local banks, insurance companies, and financial exchanges. While its dominance has waned, it remains an area of historical importance and still hosts various financial institutions, business offices, and cultural centers today.
