Founded in Montreal in 1980, Addition Elle was a pioneering Canadian retailer focused on providing contemporary and stylish fashion for plus-size women. It was acquired by Reitmans (Canada) Limited in 2001 and grew to operate 77 retail stores across Canada. In May 2020, as part of a corporate restructuring, Reitmans announced the permanent closure of all Addition Elle and Thyme Maternity stores. However, due to its strong brand recognition, Addition Elle was subsequently relaunched by its sister company, Penningtons (also owned by Reitmans), as an exclusive online collection. It continues its original mission of celebrating and empowering women through fashion-forward plus-size apparel.
