The Zimbabwe Microfinance Wholesale Facility (Pvt) Ltd (ZMWF) was established by the Government of Zimbabwe in partnership with international donors to promote financial inclusion within the country. It was initially known as the Zimbabwe Microfinance Fund (ZMF). The institution's core mission is to provide wholesale funding (loans) and technical assistance to a diverse range of financial service providers, primarily Microfinance Institutions (MFIs), to enable them to offer sustainable financial services to micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs), as well as low-income households. ZMWF acts as an apex fund, channeling capital to the grassroots level through these intermediary institutions.
