ZAR X (Pty) Ltd was a licensed South African stock exchange that began operations in 2017, positioning itself as an innovative and more accessible alternative to the Johannesburg Stock Exchange (JSE). The company's mission was to provide a cost-effective and efficient platform for companies to raise capital and for investors to trade shares using modern technology, which notably included a T+0 settlement cycle (real-time settlement). In a strategic move to consolidate the market, ZAR X was acquired by its competitor, A2X Markets. The acquisition was completed in February 2022, and all of ZAR X's operations and listings were subsequently merged into the A2X platform.
