Toco AG is a Swiss-based company that has created a new form of currency, the Toco (TOC), with the mission to build a new economy that actively finances solutions to climate change. Each Toco is backed by and represents the value of one tonne of CO2 removed from the atmosphere, with the underlying carbon credits held in a trust. The company aims to make climate action tangible and accessible by embedding the value of carbon removal into a currency that can be used for savings and, in the future, transactions, thereby creating a direct financial incentive for carbon capture and reduction projects.
