The Standards Board for Alternative Investments (SBAI) is a global, neutral standard-setting body established to create and promote best practices within the alternative investment industry. Originally launched in 2008 as the Hedge Fund Standards Board (HFSB), it has since expanded its scope to cover various alternative investment strategies, including private credit, and was rebranded to SBAI in 2017. The SBAI is supported by a community of over 150 alternative investment managers and 100 institutional investors, collectively managing over US$2 trillion. Its core mission is to improve industry outcomes by providing a framework of standards and practical guidance that enhances transparency, integrity, and governance.
