The company focused its operations in catastrophe-prone states, including Florida, Louisiana, Mississippi, and South Carolina. After facing significant financial difficulties, including substantial underwriting losses and the inability to secure adequate reinsurance coverage for the 2022 hurricane season, SFIC was deemed insolvent. In June 2022, the company was ordered into receivership for liquidation by the Florida Department of Financial Services, leading to the cancellation of all active policies and the cessation of its business operations.
