Popmoney was a digital payments service originally developed by CashEdge, which was acquired by financial technology giant Fiserv in 2011. The service was integrated into the online banking portals of numerous U.S. financial institutions, allowing their customers to send money directly from their bank accounts. It competed with other P2P services like PayPal, Venmo, and later, Zelle. As the banking industry coalesced around the Zelle network (operated by Early Warning Services, a consortium of major banks), Popmoney's usage declined. Fiserv officially discontinued the Popmoney service on June 30, 2023.
