Founded in 1999 by Mark Nordlicht, Platinum Management (NY) LLC was a U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) registered investment adviser. The firm acted as the investment manager for several private hedge funds, most notably Platinum Partners Value Arbitrage Fund and Platinum Partners Credit Opportunities Fund. The firm claimed to specialize in illiquid and esoteric assets. However, in December 2016, its founder and other executives were indicted by the U.S. Department of Justice on charges of securities fraud in a scheme valued at over $1 billion. Following the indictment, the firm filed for bankruptcy and has since ceased operations.
