Founded in 2013, Paybase was a UK-based FinTech company that developed a comprehensive Payments-as-a-Service (PaaS) solution. Its API-first platform was designed to help platform businesses (such as online marketplaces) manage complex payment flows, including receiving payments, holding funds in escrow, splitting payments, and paying out sellers, all while handling the associated regulatory and compliance burdens like KYC/AML. In October 2020, Paybase was acquired by Railsbank (which later rebranded to Railsr) and its independent operations were subsequently wound down and integrated into the parent company.
