Orient Express Bank
Information by Research Trustfinance
Founded in 1991 in Blagoveshchensk, Orient Express Bank (Vostochny Bank) grew to become one of Russia's largest private retail banks. It specialized in consumer credit, credit cards, and cash loans, establishing a significant presence in the Siberian and Far Eastern federal districts. The bank's history was marked by rapid expansion and, in its later years, a high-profile corporate conflict between its key shareholders, Baring Vostok and Finvision. In 2021, the bank was acquired by Sovcombank, and by mid-2022, the operational merger was completed, with all Orient Express Bank branches rebranded as Sovcombank offices and all clients transferred.
