Founded in 2008, Meritum Bank was a relatively modern bank in the Polish market, headquartered in Gdańsk. It positioned itself as one of Poland's first "virtual" banks, heavily utilizing online channels, mobile applications, and a network of financial partners to serve its client base of individuals, micro-businesses, and SMEs. In February 2015, Alior Bank announced the acquisition of Meritum Bank, and the legal and operational merger was completed later that year. All Meritum Bank branches and services were subsequently rebranded under the Alior Bank name.
