Legion Insurance Company, along with its affiliate Villanova Insurance Company, was a major writer of property and casualty insurance based in Philadelphia, PA. After facing severe financial difficulties, the company was placed into rehabilitation in April 2002 and subsequently into liquidation in July 2003 by order of the Commonwealth Court of Pennsylvania. The liquidation process, which involves settling the company's outstanding claims and liabilities, is managed by the Insurance Commissioner of Pennsylvania acting as the statutory liquidator.
