Incorporated in February 2002, LankaClear (Pvt) Ltd. is the operator of Sri Lanka's National Payment Network, known as LankaPay. The company is jointly owned by the Central Bank of Sri Lanka (CBSL) and all licensed commercial banks in the country. Its primary mission is to provide secure, reliable, and efficient payment infrastructure to facilitate electronic transactions, thereby minimizing the use of physical cash and driving Sri Lanka towards a digital economy. Key services operated by LankaClear include the Cheque Imaging and Truncation System (CITS), Common Electronic Fund Transfer Switch (CEFTS) for real-time payments, and the Sri Lanka Interbank Payment System (SLIPS).
