Established in 1975, the Iowa Finance Authority (IFA) is a self-supporting public agency with a mission to finance programs that support affordable housing, economic development, and job creation for the people of Iowa. IFA does not receive state tax dollars for its operating expenses but raises funds through the sale of tax-exempt and taxable bonds. It partners with lenders, realtors, developers, and community leaders across the state to offer a variety of programs, including first-time homebuyer assistance, rental housing development financing, beginning farmer loans, and water quality initiatives.
