Originally established in 1879 as the Institute of Bankers, the organization has a long history of supporting the financial services sector. It was later known as the Institute of Financial Services (ifs) before rebranding to The London Institute of Banking & Finance (LIBF) in 2016. As a registered charity incorporated by Royal Charter, its mission is to advance banking and finance by providing outstanding education and thinking, tailored to the needs of individuals, businesses, and society. LIBF is a university college with taught degree-awarding powers, offering a range of qualifications from professional certifications to undergraduate and postgraduate degrees to students and professionals worldwide.
