Founded in 1961, Ilmarinen is one of Finland's largest pension insurance companies. As a mutual company, it is owned by its customers—the policyholders and the insured. Its primary mission is to ensure that customers receive the pension they have earned from their work. Ilmarinen manages the statutory TyEL insurance for employees and YEL insurance for the self-employed. In addition to managing pension funds through extensive investment activities, the company actively promotes a better working life and the well-being of the Finnish workforce to help its customers succeed and to reduce the risk of disability pensions.
