Founded in 1936, the Hamilton Municipal Employees Credit Union (HMECU) is a not-for-profit financial institution that operates on a cooperative model, owned and controlled by its members. Its mission is to provide comprehensive and competitive financial services, including savings and chequing accounts, loans, mortgages, and investment products, exclusively for its defined membership base. This base primarily consists of current and retired employees of the City of Hamilton and other associated local groups, along with their immediate families.
