helloPay
Information by Research Trustfinance
helloPay was founded in 2014 by Lazada Group (backed by Rocket Internet) to create a seamless payment solution for its e-commerce platform and the broader Southeast Asian market, akin to PayPal's relationship with eBay. It operated as an online payment gateway and digital wallet, allowing users to pay for online purchases and transfer money. In 2016, Ant Financial (now Ant Group), the parent company of Alipay, invested in helloPay and subsequently acquired it. Following the acquisition, helloPay was rebranded to Alipay in its operational markets, including Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia, and the Philippines, integrating it into Ant Group's global payment ecosystem.
