In March 2020, Grupeer ceased all operations, suspended payments to investors, and disabled the buyback guarantee, citing the COVID-19 pandemic. This led to widespread investor complaints, allegations of fraud and mismanagement, and ultimately a criminal investigation by Latvian authorities. The company is now defunct, with ongoing legal proceedings and efforts by investor groups to recover funds.
