Founded in 1986 and listed on the Stock Exchange of Thailand (SET) in 2004, Group Lease Public Company Limited (GL) is a non-bank financial institution. Its core business is providing hire-purchase financing, primarily for motorcycles, as well as personal loans and financing for agricultural machinery and other assets. While its origins are in Thailand, the company expanded significantly into other ASEAN countries, including Cambodia, Laos, Myanmar, and Indonesia. In recent years, the company has faced significant challenges, including regulatory sanctions against former executives and financial difficulties, leading it to enter a court-approved business rehabilitation plan in 2021 to restructure its debt and operations.
