Founded in 2014, FitPay, Inc. developed a business-to-business (B2B) platform that enabled Internet of Things (IoT) and wearable device manufacturers to add secure, contactless payment and authentication services to their products. The platform connected device OEMs to the major payment networks like Visa and Mastercard, handling the complex tokenization process required for secure transactions. The company was acquired by NXT-ID, Inc. in 2017. In May 2019, Garmin Ltd. acquired the assets and engineering team of FitPay, Inc. from NXT-ID to power and expand its own Garmin Pay™ service.
