The European Banking Authority (EBA) is a regulatory agency of the European Union, established on 1 January 2011. Its primary mission is to contribute to the stability and effectiveness of the European financial system by ensuring a high-quality, transparent, and harmonized level of banking regulation and supervision. The EBA is instrumental in developing and maintaining the Single Rulebook for banking in the EU, which provides a unified set of prudential rules for financial institutions. It also plays a key role in promoting the convergence of supervisory practices and conducting EU-wide stress tests to assess the resilience of European banks.
